準惑星 （じゅんわくせい、 英 : dwarf planet ）とは、 太陽 の周囲を公転する 惑星 以外の 天体 のうち、それ自身の 重力 によって球形になれるだけの質量を有するもの。 国際天文学連合 （IAU）が 2006年 8月24日 に採択した第26回総会決議5A（以下、決議5Aと略）の中で 「惑星」を再定義した際 に、同時に定義された 太陽系 の 天体 の新分類である。 国際天文学連合による定義[編集] 詳細は「 国際天文学連合による惑星の定義 」を参照. 採択された決議案に示される定義は下記の通りである。 dwarf planet（ ドワーフ・プラネット ） （準惑星）とは、以下の条件をすべて満たす天体である。 太陽 をめぐる 軌道 を周回している [1] 。
