Patrice Louise Rushen (born September 30, 1954) is an American jazz pianist and R&B singer. She is also a composer, record producer, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and music director. Her 1982 single " Forget Me Nots " received a Grammy Award nomination for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance .
Other highlights include the midtempo “Sun Goddess,” with it’s carefully crafted vocal chorus and insistent keyboard work by George Duke, and the smoky “Let’s Jam,” a forum for not only Powell’s furtive guitar work but also Patrice Rushen’s engaging acoustic piano.
O’s Notes: Old school R&B fans will really enjoy this one as Doc revisits some cool classics. “Breezin”, “Sun Goddess” and “What’s Going On” are among the ten tracks. Guests George Duke (p), Marcus Miller (b), Patrice Rushen (p) and drummer Harvey Mason give it that special touch.
