Lucas, who was recognized for his contribution to education in London. In April 1962, Hugh Murray became the first principal.

Lucas Secondary School opened its doors in September 1963 and was named after Dr. Alexander Burton Lucas, a Londoner who had a distinguished career in education, having served as a teacher, principal, inspector, Teacher's College master, superintendent and director; retiring in London as our Director of Education.
