In some ways, San Francisco’s Jellyfish had a similar fate to Fountains of Wayne.

According to Schlesinger, Hanks approached him and asked him to write a song that sounded like “British Invasion” music. Schlesinger, being a fan of that type of music, was excited to take on the challenge.
