El príncipe Akaki Tsereteli (en georgiano აკაკი წერეთელი; en ruso Akaki Rostomovich Tsereteli; Shvitori, Georgia, 9 de junio de 1840 - Satshjere, Georgia, 26 de enero de 1915) fue un poeta y político georgiano, además de desempeñar un papel muy importante en el movimiento nacional georgiano.

Tsereteli lead Georgia’s struggle for liberation and self-determination and was the champion of the spiritual revival of the Georgian nation. He began to write poetry in his early years. Being the author of the remarkable poems and prose, he was acknowledged by the Georgians as the People’s Poet in his lifetime.

In 1852 he began to study at the Kutaisi Classical Gymnasium, in 1859 he enrolled in the Faculty of Oriental Languages of St. Petersburg University, graduating in 1862 with a degree in Candidate. His theme was the originality of "Panther". Akaki married Natalia Bazilevskaya in 1864.
