Alexander Lange Kielland (oprindeligt Kjelland) (18. februar 1849 i Stavanger – 6. april 1906 i Bergen) var en af Norges mest kendte forfattere i det 19. århundrede. Sammen med Henrik Ibsen , Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson og Jonas Lie regnes han til " de fire store " norske forfattere i slutningen af århundredet.

The semi-submersible platform Alexander L Kielland gave accommodation to 212 workers on the evening of 27 March 1980. Of these, 123 workers aged between 19 and 57 died when the floating hotel capsized.
The final death toll when the Alexander Kielland accommodation platform collapsed was 123. A previously undetected crack in one leg of the platform is thought to be the reason the structure gave way. Experts believe it took 15 minutes for the platform to collapse into the sea. It was not until 1983 that the platform was salvaged.
