Alexander Ranaldson MacDonell of Glengarry, ca 1812. Invergarry Castle is the traditional seat of Clan MacDonell of Glengarry, and home to the chiefs of the MacDonells until 1746 when the British Government partially destroyed the castle under the orders of the Duke of Cumberland.

30 de dic. de 2020 · MACDONELL or MACDONNELL, ALEXANDER RANALDSON (d. 1828), colonel, highland chieftain, was eldest son and successor of Duncan Macdonell, fourteenth hereditary chief of the Glengarry branch of the Macdonald clan, which was distinguished by the spelling of the name as Macdonell, or more rarely Macdonnell.
