Alexandros Mavrokordatos (Greek: Αλέξανδρος Μαυροκορδάτος; February 11, 1791 – August 18, 1865) was a Greek statesman and member of the Mavrocordatos family of Phanariotes. In 1812, he went to the court of his uncle Jean Georges Caradja , Hospodar of Wallachia , with whom he passed into exile in Austria and Italy (1818), where he studied at the University of Padua.
Alexandros Mavrokordatos died in Aegina, Greece on August 18, 1865, over thirty years before the struggle for Greek Independence began. He was an instrumental part of Greek history and played an important role in the history of Modern Greece, including during the War for Greek Independence.
