Appassionato dell’aspetto scientifico della fotografia, studia ingegneria e fotochimica a Berlino. Stieglitz vive profondamente l’età delle Avanguardie storiche tra la fine dell’Ottocento e i primi del Novecento.

Alfred Stieglitz. Nació en Hoboken, Nueva Jersey, el 1 de enero de 1864. Fue el mayor de seis hermanos y creció en la zona este de Manhattan. Se trasladó junto a su familia a Alemania en 1881. Al año siguiente inició estudios de ingeniería mecánica en la Technische Hochschule de Berlín, aunque los abandonó pronto para estudiar fotografía.
