  6. American Pie is the second studio album by American singer-songwriter Don McLean, released by United Artists Records in October 1971. The folk rock album reached number one on the Billboard 200, containing the chart-topping singles "American Pie" and "Vincent".

  7. In 1995, Mainieri released the American Diary album, featuring original music as well as compositions by such diverse composers as Aaron Copland, Samuel Barber, and Frank Zappa. A second album, American Diary — The Dreamings , was released in 1999, and Mainieri assembled an American Diary band (including Erskine, who had played on both albums) for a concert at PASIC 2003 in Louisville.
