Julia Murdock Smith Dixon Middleton (May 1, 1831 – September 12, 1880) was an early member of the Latter Day Saint movement and the eldest surviving child and only daughter of Joseph Smith and Emma Hale Smith. She was adopted by the Smiths.

The next day, family friend Julia Clapp Murdock also gave birth to twins, but she died six hours after the delivery. Julia’s husband, John Murdock, upon being left a widower with five children to care for, gave the twins to Emma and Joseph for adoption. Emma appears to have never named her deceased twins.

Joseph Murdock Smith, adopted son, died on March 30, 1832, in Hiram, Ohio, from exposure caused when a mob attacked the Prophet. Julia Murdock Smith, adopted daughter, married Elisah Dixon in 1848 in Nauvoo, Illinois. They had no children. After Elisah died in 1850 in Galveston, Texas, Julia married John J. Middleton in 1852 in Nauvoo, Illinois.
