Anthonij "Anton" Rudolf Mauve (18 September 1838 – 5 February 1888) was a Dutch realist painter who was a leading member of the Hague School. He signed his paintings 'A. Mauve' or with a monogrammed 'A.M.'. A master colorist, he was a very significant early influence on his cousin-in-law Vincent van Gogh .

Anton Mauve nació el 18 de septiembre de 1838 en Zaandam. Su padre era predicador baptista; poco después del nacimiento de Anton, la familia se trasladó a Haarlem. This group of painters took the landscape around the city of The Hague as their subject. Mauve was particularly fond of sandy grounds, such as the blonde dunes, the beach at Scheveningen and the grey-green heathland around Laren.
