Muhammad I. Anushtegin Gharchai (also spelled Anush-Tegin; Persian: نوشتکین غرچه, romanized : Anūštigin Ḡaṛčaʾī; died 1097) was a Turkic slave commander ( ghulam) of the Seljuks and the governor of Khwarazm from approximately 1077 until 1097.

The dynasty was founded by commander Anushtegin Gharchai, a former Turkic slave of the Seljuq sultans, who was appointed as governor of Khwarazm. His son, Qutb ad-Din Muhammad I, became the first hereditary Shah of Khwarazm.

He was a Turkic slave of the rulers of Gharchistan and afterwards a Mamluk in the service of the Seljuqs. Khwarazm's independence from its neighbours was established by Ala ad-Din Atsiz, a descendant of Anush Tigin.
