Approximately Infinite Universe is the third solo album by Yoko Ono, released in early 1973 on Apple Records. A double album , it represents a departure from the experimental avant garde rock of her first two albums towards a more conventional pop/rock sound, while also dabbling in feminist rock .

Mick Jagger dropped into the studio for some of the sessions. He recalled playing guitar very loudly with Lennon. Jagger also said that Ono “was really trying to sing properly. Further, Lennon would produce Jagger’s song “Too Many Cooks (Spoil The Soup)” in 1973. That song was not officially released until 2007 (The Very Best of Mick Jagger). Approximately Infinite Universe is a brilliant album, and at this point, her most commercial.

I want to start recommending some lesser known titles in my collection. So I am starting with Yoko Ono's 1973 double album Approximately Infinite Universe produced by John Lennon and backed by the NYC band Elephant's Memory. John Lennon plays some guitar on the album, as does Mick Jagger. FOR FANS OF BANDS LIKE.

The tracks were mostly recorded at the Record Plant, New York, in October and November 1972, just two were recorded at Butterfly Studios ("Catman" and "Winter Song"). The guitarist mentioned above as Joel Nohnn is clearly John, and he was also reported as playing guitar on "Winter Song" with Mick Jagger !
