Archibald Douglas, 5th Earl of Angus (c. 1449 – October 1513) was a Scottish nobleman, peer, politician, and magnate. Tradition has accorded him the nickname Archibald 'Bell-the-Cat' due to his association with the 1482 rebellion against James III of Scotland .
25 de dic. de 2023 · The son of Archibald Douglas 5th Earl of Angus and Elizabeth Boyd, daughter of Robert Boyd, 1st Lord Boyd, he was born at Tantallon Castle and died at the Battle of Flodden. In 1489 the 5th Earl of Angus, George's father resigned his lordships of Tantallon, Douglasdale, Liddesdale, Ewesdale, Eskdale, Selkirk, and Jedburgh Forest to the crown.
Landowner. Archibald Douglas succeeded his father, the third marquis of Douglas, aged six. When he reached nine years Queen Anne created him duke of Douglas, earl of Angus and Abernethy, viscount of Jedburgh Forest and lord of Boncle, Preston and Roberton.

Kilspindie was the fourth son of Archibald Douglas, 5th Earl of Angus, and his second wife, Elizabeth Boyd, herself a daughter of Robert Boyd, 1st Lord Boyd .
