Far-left politics, also known as the extreme left, are politics further to the left on the left–right political spectrum than the standard political left. The terms far-left and ultra-left are used for positions that are more radical, more strongly rejecting capitalism and mainstream representative democracy, instead advocating for a socialist society based on economic democracy and direct democracy, representing economic, political and social democracy.
