  6. Arvada High School (AHS) is a school with a rich history. In existence for over 100 years, it has successfully weathered many building, curriculum, and community changes. AHS is one of 18 comprehensive high schools in the Jefferson County School District R-1, the largest K-12 district in Colorado serving over 85,000 students.

  7. In 1900, a two-story structure, with upper classmen in attendance on the second floor, opened on Grandview Avenue and Williams Street (now Zephyr). The school was originally called Arvada School and was later named Lawrence Elementary after beloved teacher Helen E. Lawrence.
