Athole Dane Shearer Hawks (November 20, 1900 – March 17, 1985) was a Canadian-American actress and socialite, who was the sister of motion picture star Norma Shearer and MGM film sound engineer Douglas Shearer.

In 1938 she met noted film director Howard Hawks, who was immediately smitten with her and did everything he could to persuade her to marry him despite the fact he was already married to Athole Shearer, the sister of actress Norma Shearer.
Howard Hawks was married three times: to actress Athole Shearer, sister of Norma Shearer, from 1928 to 1940; to socialite and fashion icon Slim Keith from 1941 to 1949; and to actress Dee Hartford from 1953 to 1959. Hawks had two children with Shearer, Barbara and David. David Hawks worked as an assistant director for the television series M*A*S*H.
Athole Shearer was an actress most noted as the sister of motion picture star Norma Shearer and film sound engineer Douglas Shearer. Shearer was born in Montreal, Quebec. As a teenager, her divorced mother moved the two girls to New York City and then to Hollywood and in 1920 she obtained her first minor film roll.
