Lichtenberg es un principado ubicado en los años 1816-1834 en el territorio del actual Sarre. El estado nació después del Congreso de Viena. El duque Ernesto I de Sajonia-Coburgo-Saalfeld recibió esta tierra como premio al mérito militar como general durante la lucha contra Napoleón.
Bernhard Lichtenberg ( German: [ˈbɛʁn.haʁt ˈlɪçtn̩ˌbɛʁk] ⓘ; 3 December 1875 – 5 November 1943) was a German Catholic priest who became known for repeatedly speaking out, after the rise of Adolf Hitler and during the Holocaust, against the persecution and deportation of the Jews.
