sculpture, an artistic form in which hard or plastic materials are worked into three-dimensional art objects. The designs may be embodied in freestanding objects, in reliefs on surfaces, or in environments ranging from tableaux to contexts that envelop the spectator.
Renaissance sculpture is understood as a process of recovery of the sculpture of classical antiquity. Sculptors found in the artistic remains and in the discoveries of sites of that bygone era the perfect inspiration for their works. They were also inspired by nature.
Escultura del realismo es la escultura que puede asociarse al movimiento artístico denominado realismo ( realismo literario, realismo pictórico) que aparece en Francia, hacia el siglo XIX. No debe confundirse con la escultura que sigue las convenciones del realismo en las artes, que se da en cualquier época de la historia de la escultura .
