A funerary urn perched on a column on one end of the lake indicates that the island is a burial place. Visitors can, however, contemplate the Princess at the lakeside Temple which is dedicated to her memory.

Althorp is a Grade I listed stately home and estate in the civil parish of Althorp, in West Northamptonshire, England of about 13,000 acres. By road it is about 6 miles northwest of the county town of Northampton and about 75 miles northwest of central London.
