Senekerim-Hovhannes Artsruni (Armenian: Սենեքերիմ-Հովհաննես Արծրունի), also known variously as Senekerim-John, Sennecherim or Sennacherib-John, known in Byzantine sources simply as Senachereim (Greek: Σεναχηρείμ), was the sixth and last King of Vaspurakan, from the Artsruni dynasty.

Biography. Ablgharib was born in the Kingdom of Vaspurakan to Hasan son of Khatchik the Great [ hy] from the Artsruni dynasty. [1] . In 1021, King Senekerim-Hovhannes decided to cede his kingdom to the Byzantine Empire following devastating raids by Seljuq Turks, receiving Sebasteia and its territories extending to the Euphrates in return. [2] .
The monastery was founded in the early 11th century by Senekerim-Hovhannes Artsruni, the Armenian King of Vaspurakan, on a preexisting religious site. Initially serving as the necropolis of the Artsruni kings, it eventually became the seat of the archbishop of the Armenian Church in Van.
