Barnim II (c. 1277 – 28 May 1295) was Duke of Pomerania. Son of Duke Barnim I and his third wife, Mechtild of Brandenburg , Barnim's father died in 1278 when he was still a child. He was titular co-ruler with younger brother Otto I and his much older half-brother Bogislaw IV , in whose hands effective power lay.
He was the second son of Duke Wartislaw IV of Pomerania-Wolgast and the brother of Bogislaw V and Wartislaw V . He married Sophie of Werle (1329–1364), the daughter of John II of Werle. Barnim XI (1501–1573; by some accounts Barnim IX), son of Bogislaw X, Duke of Pomerania, became duke on his father's death in 1523. Life [ edit ] Barnim ruled for a time in common with his elder brother George I ; and after George's death in 1531 he shared the duchy with his nephew Philip I , retaining for himself the duchy of Pomerania-Stettin .

Life. Barnim was the sixth child of Duke Philip I of Pomerania-Wolgast and his wife Maria of Saxony, Duchess of Pomerania.Philip died in 1560 and was survived by five of his sons; in addition to Barnim, they were his older brothers John Frederick (1542–1600), Bogislaw XIII (1544–1606) and Ernest Louis (1545–1592) and Barnim's younger brother Casimir VI (1557–1605).
