Benjamin Jonson ( Westminster, c. 11 de junio de 1572- Londres, 6 de agosto de 1637) fue un dramaturgo, poeta y actor inglés del Renacimiento. Sus obras más conocidas son Volpone además de sus poemas líricos. Jonson leía mucho y tenía un apetito aparentemente insaciable por la controversia.

Jonson died on or around 16 August 1637, and his funeral was held the next day. It was attended by "all or the greatest part of the nobility then in town". [21] He is buried in the north aisle of the nave in Westminster Abbey, with the inscription "O Rare Ben Johnson [ sic ]" set in the slab over his grave.
