It is created after a landmark meeting in Verona , between the Holy Roman Empire under Frederick I and the Catholic Church under Pope Lucius III .

La Inquisición medieval se fundó en 1184 en la zona de Languedoc (en el sur de Francia) para combatir la herejía de los cátaros o albigenses. En ese año el papa Lucio III promulgó la decretal Ad abolendam en la que ordenó que se establecieran tribunales episcopales en toda la Cristiandad Latina que se ocuparan de la herejía [ 1 ] .
Ad abolendam (lit. 'On abolition / Towards abolishing'; full title in Latin: Ad abolendam diversam haeresium pravitatem, lit. 'To abolish diverse malignant heresies') was a decretal and bull of Pope Lucius III, written at Verona and issued 4 November 1184.
