Berthe Marie Pauline Morisot was a French painter and a member of the circle of painters in Paris who became known as the Impressionists. In 1864, Morisot exhibited for the first time in the highly esteemed Salon de Paris.
Berthe Morisot (Bourges, 14 de gener de 1841 - París, 2 de març de 1895) fou una pintora francesa, cofundadora i decana de l'impressionisme, admirada i respectada pels seus col·legues, «la gran dama de la pintura», segons la historiadora Anne Higonnet.

Berthe Morisot Pintora francesa Nació el 14 de enero de 1841 en Bourges (Francia). Se crió en el seno de una familia de la alta burguesía. Siguió junto a su hermana Edma los cursos de Eugene Benot Buichard, discípulo de Ingres y de Delacroix.
Berthe Morisot sought to paint her environment as it was. In an 1876 text, considered to be a manifesto for Impressionism, novelist and critic Edmond Duranty situated the representation of the modern figure in an interior at the very heart of what he called “the new painting”: “Our lives take place in rooms or on the street.”
