Bette Ford (born Harriet Elizabeth Dingeldein; June 24, 1927) is a retired American actress and model turned professional bullfighter. She was the first American woman to fight on foot in the Plaza México, the world's largest bullfight arena.

In the border city of Juarez, in 1958, Bette Ford, the former fashion model and actress who had reinvented herself as a bullfighter, was badly injured by a bull. Bette, 31 years old at the time of the goring, could not expect a quick recuperation.
Bette Ford Biography. Bette Ford grew up in Saginaw Michigan, where she continues to live. She obtained her bachelor’s degree from Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio. Bette began her teaching career in Detroit and completed a master’s degree at Wayne State University.
