Hace 5 días · Those types of films are often contained in a shell without false pretences. For me, the Scottish film Gregory’s Girl, directed by Bill Forsyth, bears these non-neglectable qualities. Initially, I discovered this delightful coming-of-age comedy in February 2021 when I did my one-month marathon of UK-produced films.

Billy Wilder self-identified as a writer, with his tombstone in Los Angeles bearing the words: “I’m a writer but then nobody’s perfect.” That, of course, is a reference to his most famous line, which is probably the most famous last line of any film, the two-word swansong to Some Like It Hot (1959): “Nobody’s perfect.”
