The opening scene—set at an aquarium—seems more interested in giving us extreme close-ups of walruses than in establishing mood; and even before the protagonists arrive at the castle, we have been given a long-winded sequence of the werewolf scampering though the countryside killing people.

An obnoxious Hollywood couple inherits a castle currently being rented by a couple of Draculas, as well as a basement full of chained models, the requisite mentally deficient manservant, the Draculas' clean-cut serial killer best friend and John Carradine's butler/High-Priest-of-the-local-moon-cult.

Glen Cannon, a photographer, receives a telegram that informs him that he has inherited Falcon Rock Castle from his late uncle. Glen and his fiancée, Liz, visit the castle to give notice to the current occupants, Count and Countess Townsend. They learn from George, the butler, that the Townsends will join them only after sunset.
