Biography. Bogislaw was born in Barth as a member of the House of Griffin. He was the third son of Duke Bogislaw XIII by his first wife Clara of Brunswick-Lüneburg. On the death of his father in 1606, he and his younger brother George II became joint dukes of Rügenwalde (Darłowo). George II died in 1617, and Bogislaw became sole ruler.
Life. Barnim was the sixth child of Duke Philip I of Pomerania-Wolgast and his wife Maria of Saxony, Duchess of Pomerania.Philip died in 1560 and was survived by five of his sons; in addition to Barnim, they were his older brothers John Frederick (1542–1600), Bogislaw XIII (1544–1606) and Ernest Louis (1545–1592) and Barnim's younger brother Casimir VI (1557–1605).
Life. Bogislaw VII was the son of Duke Barnim III "the church founder" ( c. 1303 – 1368) and his wife, Agnes of Brunswick-Grubenhagen. After his father's death in 1368, he ruled Pomerania-Stettin jointly with his older brothers Casimir III and Swantibor III . Casimir III died in battle in 1372 during a war against Brandenburg.
