The Byam Shaw School of Art, often known simply as Byam Shaw, was an independent art school in London, England, which specialised in fine art and offered foundation and degree level courses. It was founded in 1910 by John Liston Byam Shaw and Rex Vicat Cole.

Byam Shaw School of Art. Byam Shaw School of Art was founded by the artists John Byam Shaw and Rex Vicat Cole in 1910 as a school of drawing and painting. It was originally located in Campden Street, Kensington, and moved to larger premises in Archway in 1990. It was subsumed by Central Saint Martins in 2003.

We welcomed Drama Centre London in 1999 and the Byam Shaw School of Art in 2003. In 2011, we moved to our award-winning building in King’s Cross, where all of these elements now flourish and collide under one roof.

Paper conservation courses began in 1970, and in 1974 the Council for National Academic Awards approved BA degrees in painting; sculpture; graphic design; printed and woven textiles; and ceramics (with silversmithing and metalwork introduced in 1976).
