The album and its sequel, Duets II, released the following year, would see Sinatra remake his classic recordings with popular contemporary performers, who added their vocals to a pre-recorded tape.

He decided to take matters into his own hands, by recording his last songs for them in 1961, and after failing to acquire Verve Records, starting his own label named Reprise Records.

That big stack o’ records building (the cylindrical shape looks like records piled high up with a needle on top), otherwise known as the Capitol Records Tower, is almost as famous as the musicians who have recorded or mastered there, and we’re talking Frank Sinatra, The Beach Boys, Green Day and NWA.
