Carlos XIV Juan de Suecia. Carlos XIV Juan (Karl XIV Johan), nacido Jean-Baptiste Bernadotte ( Pau, Francia, 26 de enero de 1763- Estocolmo, Suecia, 8 de marzo de 1844), fue un militar del Imperio francés, príncipe soberano de Pontecorvo (1806-1810) y desde el 5 de febrero de 1818, monarca de Suecia (Carlos XIV) y Noruega (Carlos III).
(AP) Count Carl Johan Bernadotte, who lost his Swedish royal title and succession rights when he married a commoner, has died. He was 95. Bernadotte died on Saturday at a hospital in Angelholm, in southern Sweden, Royal Court spokesman Bertil Ternert said Sunday. The court did not disclose the cause of death.

Count Carl Johan of Wisborg died on May 5, 2012, at Ängelholm Hospital in Bastad, Sweden at the age of 95. After the funeral service in Bastad, his coffin was taken to the Royal Chapel at the Royal Palace in Stockholm, Sweden where a service of thanksgiving was held. Den 21. august 1810 valgte valgrigsdagen i Örebro Bernadotte som arving til den svenske trone. To måneder senere, den 5. november, blev Jean-Baptiste Bernadotte formelt adopteret af kongen under navnet "Carl Johan" og blev udnævnt til kronprins af Sverige. I 1814 blev han også tronarving i Norge som arvtager til Karl 13.
