Ernest Augustus ( German: Ernst August; 20 November 1629 – 23 January 1698), Duke of Brunswick-Lüneburg, was Prince of Calenberg from 1679 until his death, and father of George I of Great Britain. He was appointed as the ninth prince-elector of the Holy Roman Empire in 1692.

Ernesto nació el 26 de febrero de 1954 en Hannover, siendo el hijo mayor del príncipe Ernesto Augusto de Hannover y de su primera esposa, la princesa Ortrudis de Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg. Ernesto Augusto de Hannover (18 de marzo de 1914, Brunswick - 9 de diciembre de 1987, Schulenburg) fue príncipe de Hannover, príncipe heredero de Brunswick de 1914 a 1918, jefe de la casa real de Hannover de 1953 a 1987.
Ernesto Augusto I de Hannover ( Londres, 5 de junio de 1771- Hannover, 18 de noviembre de 1851) fue el penúltimo rey de Hannover, desde su ascenso al trono, en 1837, hasta su muerte, en 1851. Como hijo de los reyes Jorge III y de su esposa, Carlota, era príncipe del Reino Unido y fue creado duque de Cumberland y Teviotdale por su padre, en 1799.
