Tönning (dänisch Tønning, nordfriesisch Taning, niederdeutsch Tönn, Tönnen und Tünn) ist eine Kleinstadt im Süden des Kreises Nordfriesland in Schleswig-Holstein. Sie ist ein staatlich anerkannter Luftkurort .

Tönning sits at the entrance to the Eiderstedt peninsula. What makes it so appealing is its North Frisian small town flair, historic buildings and good infrastructure. It is often referred to as 'the most beautiful historic harbour on the west coast'.
The 1,600 strong Holstein garrison of the Tönning fortress held out until 7 February 1714. Danish forces, in pursuit of a royal occupation order of 13 March 1713, gained complete control over Holstein-Gottorp when the last Holsteiners loyal to Sweden were captured in 1715.
Tönning (dansk: Tønning) er en by i Kreis Nordfriesland i delstaten Schleswig-Holstein i det nordlige Tyskland. Den ligger mot nordsjøkysten, ved munningen av elva Eider i Sydslesvig. Det er bruforbindelse mellom Tönning og Karolinenkoog i Ditmarsken over Eider.
