Joan of England (19 December 1333 or 28 January 1334 – 2 September 1348) was a daughter of Edward III and his wife, Philippa of Hainault. She died in the Black Death that struck Europe in 1348. [1] [2] Life. Joan, also known as Joanna, was born in the Tower of London. [3] .

Joan, Countess of Kent (29 September 1326/1327 [1] – 7 August 1385), known as the Fair Maid of Kent, was the mother of King Richard II of England, her son by her third husband, Edward the Black Prince, son and heir apparent of King Edward III.

Princess Joan, however, would be the first person to die from the Black Death in this town some months later. Perhaps she had already contracted the disease when she arrived in the town, or perhaps one of her entourage already had. Joan died on the 2nd of September 1348.
