Charles Brandon, 1st Duke of Suffolk ( c. 1484 – 22 August 1545) was an English military leader and courtier. Through his third wife, Mary Tudor, he was brother-in-law to King Henry VIII . Biography.

His father had previously been married to Mary Tudor, sister of King Henry VIII.

He was created (1513) Viscount Lisle on his betrothal to his ward, Elizabeth Grey, Viscountess Lisle (in her own right), but the title was canceled when Elizabeth, on coming of age, refused to marry him.
