Charles François Gounod, född 17 juni 1818 i Paris, död 18 oktober 1893 i Saint-Cloud nära Paris, var en fransk klassisk kompositör. Gounod är mest känd för att addera texten till Ave Maria, på en melodi som bygger på Bachs verk 846.
Charles (egentlig Charles-François) Gounod (født 17. juni 1818, død 18. oktober 1893) var en fransk komponist. Han er mest kjent som operakomponist , blant annet med operaene Faust og Romeo og Julie .

Charles Gounod na fotografii od Nadara, zřejmě z roku 1887. Po studiu na pařížské konzervatoři získal v roce 1839 cenu Grand Prix de Rome za svou dramatickou scénu Fernand. Řím udělal na mladého Gounoda veliký dojem; byl hluboce zasažen duchovní hudbou šestnáctého století, především Palestrinou, a stal se hluboce věřícím.
