Charles Reed Bishop, husband of Kamehameha Schools founder Bernice Pauahi Bishop, was a prominent and well respected citizen of the Hawaiian Kingdom who signed the oath of allegiance to the kingdom on February 27, 1849. Born January 25, 1822 in Glens Falls, New York, Bishop, with his friend William Little Lee, arrived in Hawai‘i in 1846.
