23 de abr. de 2024 · The son of an army officer, Jenkinson in 1760 became private secretary to the 3rd Earl of Bute, favourite of George III, and in 1763, having been elected to Parliament, was appointed joint secretary of the Treasury. He was leader of the “king’s friends” in the House of Commons after the retirement of Bute from active politics.

22 de abr. de 2024 · In March 1807 William Cavendish-Bentinck, 3rd Earl of Portland became the Prime Minister. Spencer Perceval served as his Chancellor of the Exchequer and Chancellor for the Duchy of Lancaster. On 4th October 1809 he was successful in becoming the earl's successor as Prime Minister.
He was the son of Robert de Vere, 19th Earl of Oxford and his wife Beatrix van Hemmend. [1] He was educated in Friesland in the Netherlands after his father was mortally wounded at the Capture of Maastricht in 1632 when de Vere was only six years old. Years later he joined the English Regiment of Foot, serving on the continent with the Dutch.

James Compton, 3rd Earl of Northampton FRS (19 August 1622 – 15 December 1681), was an English peer, politician and author, who fought for the Royalists during the First English Civil War . He succeeded his father Spencer Compton, 2nd Earl of Northampton when he was killed in March 1643 at the Battle of Hopton Heath.
