  4. Charlotte Corday, born Marie-Anne-Charlotte Corday d'Armont was born in Normandy on July 27, 1768 and was executed on July 17, 1793 in Paris. Corday is buried at Chapelle Expiatoire in the 8th arrondissement in Paris. Interestingly, this cemetery is dedicated to Marie Antoinette and her husband King Louis XVI, although they are buried elsewhere.

  5. Charlotte Corday (1768-1793) played a prominent role in the French Revolution (1789-1799) when she assassinated radical activist Jean-Paul Marat in his bathtub on 13 July 1793. Despite her aristocratic background, Corday was an avowed republican who believed Marat and his Jacobin allies were corrupting the soul of the Revolution.

A large number of French people were furious, heartbroken, and horrified at her actions.
