Marquess of Anglesey. For the similarly-named ship, see Marquis of Anglesea (1815 ship). Marquess of Anglesey is a title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom. It was created in 1815 for Henry Paget, 2nd Earl of Uxbridge, a hero of the Battle of Waterloo, second in command to the Duke of Wellington.

Henry Paget was the son of Charles Paget, 6th Marquess of Anglesey and Lady Victoria Manners, the eldest daughter of the 8th Duke of Rutland, and was baptised with George V and Mary of Teck as his godparents. He was the brother of Lady Rose McLaren and the nephew of Lady Diana Cooper. [3]

Lady Victoria was the eldest daughter of Henry Manners, 8th Duke of Rutland, a British peer, and the former Marion Margaret Violet Lindsay, an artist.

Henry William Paget, 1st Marquess of Anglesey (17 May 1768–29 April 1854) was a British military leader and politician, now chiefly remembered for leading the charge of the heavy cavalry against d'Erlon's column during the Battle of Waterloo.
