8 de abr. de 2024 · Elizabeth Charlotte was the daughter of Frederick IV, Elector Palatine, and Louise Juliana of Orange-Nassau. Her brother Frederick became famous as the Elector-Palatine and "Winter King" of Bohemia. In 1616 Elizabeth Charlotte married George William, with whom she had three children. The marriage was arranged to unite two Protestant dynasties.

20 de mar. de 2023 · Footnote 4 The first, Elisabeth-Charlotte of the Palatinate (1652–1722), is well known as a source for colourful anecdotes about the court of the Sun King, but is rarely looked at as a historical figure of note; Footnote 5 the second, Marguerite of Lorraine (1615–1672), is almost unknown and most of the details of her life remain a mystery.
As a teen, Princess Elisabeth Charlotte had a big honking teen girl crush on William of Orange, her cousin. Listen, it was a different time. However, her father wanted her to marry someone else. He couldn’t have known, but letting her fulfill her desires would’ve changed history for the Palatinate.
