Charlton Washington left the group in 2020 to pursue a solo career and was replaced by C. J. Jefferson. After years without new music, The Spinners released ' Round the Block and Back Again on August 27, 2021, the first with the current lineup and the final before Fambrough's retirement.

Charlton Washington, who has served as lead singer for the group since 2007, left the act suddenly in March, and has been replaced by former Ol Skool and Temptations Revue singer, CJ Jefferson. The St. Louis native has already started with the group and will take on the lead singer role.
