La Academia de Guerra del Ejército de Chile es la institución encargada de formar a los Oficiales de Estado Mayor del Ejército. Creada el 9 de septiembre de 1886, siendo la primera de su tipo en América y una de las más antiguas del mundo. Está ubicada en la comuna de La Reina, junto a la Academia Politécnica Militar.

In 1956, Pinochet and a group of young officers were chosen to collaborate in the organization of the War Academy of Ecuador in Quito. He remained with the Quito mission for four-and-a-half years, during which time he studied geopolitics , military geography and military intelligence .
