H.H. Swami Chinmayananda (1916, Kerala, India – 1993, San Diego, California), nacido como Balakrishna Menon, fue un líder espiritual de la India y maestro de hinduismo, que inspiró la formación de la Misión Chinmaya en 1953 para difundir el mensaje del Vedanta.
Chinmayananda means ‘filled with the bliss of pure Consciousness’. Swami Sivananda then guided Chinmayananda to the most renowned Vedanta master of the time, Swami Tapovanam, who lived in Uttarkashi, in the Himalayas.
Followers of Chinmayananda Saraswati established the Chinmaya Mission in India in 1953. The mission was headed by Swami Tejomayananda and is now headed by Swami Swaroopananda. There are over 313 mission centres all over India and abroad. North America had more than 30 centres.
