Associated with the design reform movement in the second half of the nineteenth century, Christopher Dresser is considered the first industrial designer. Dresser addressed the constraints as well as the strengths of the machine in the manufacture of domestic utilitarian objects.
Christopher Dresser (Glasgow, 4 de julio de 1834 - Mulhouse, 24 de noviembre de 1904) fue un diseñador y escritor sobre diseño. Actualmente conocido como el primer diseñador industrial británico independiente. Contribuyó al Aesthetic Movement y se vio ligado al movimiento de Arts and Crafts (Artes y Oficios).

Dresser studied at the School of Design in London (1847–54), where in 1855 he was appointed professor of artistic botany.
