Encouraged by her father, she studied piano from the age of five and by 1835 had established a reputation throughout Europe as a child prodigy.

Entre otros, por el dramaturgo austriaco Franz Grillparzer que tras escuchar su interpretación de Sonata en fa menor escribió el poema Clara Wieck –su apellido de soltera– y Beethoven.
