Pedro II, being only 6 years old at the time of his coronation, had a regency established. The regency would rule until 1840, when the Emperor turned 14 years old.

Assuming the bad blood between the two Braganza branches isn't as heated by the 1860s they might be acceptable for a future Queen of Brazil.
