American Piedmont blues musician and songster John Jackson (1924–2002) lived in suburban Washington, DC, most of his adult life, supporting his wife and family by working as a grave digger. Jackson’s musical influences included both black and white blues, folk, and country musicians.

John Jackson (February 24, 1924 – January 20, 2002) [1] was an American Piedmont blues musician. Music was not his primary activity until his accidental "discovery" by the folklorist Chuck Perdue in the 1960s. Jackson had effectively given up playing in his community in 1949. Life and career.
